A lot of voluntary organizations are working in the territory of partner communities from Italy, Austria, Romania, Spain and Turkey in the social assistance, health and social justice sectors and in the protection of artistic and cultural heritage. It is a vast and complex world, made up of numerous stories of solidarity and altruism which have enabled the territory to develop very strong social cohesion and a marked sense of active citizenship in its inhabitants.
The comparative study made in the first year of the Euforex project had as objective of the mapping of the social representation of volunteer work in the partner territories and the examination fo the demands and specific needs of people, with or without experience, who want to be involved in volunteer activities.
The aim is to give a response to a number of fundamental questions regarding the activity that hundreds of volunteers perform in the partner territories, how this activity is structured and how “things are done” in reference to the social context. In addition, the study has the aim of carrying out a detailed analysis of the challenges (specific needs and demands) of those actively involved in volunteering and of all those people so called expert human resources, who would like to be involved but have not yet made the commitment.
This comparative study presents in a comparative manner the context of each region in terms of volunteering and active citizenship; the volunteers’ training needs in terms of topics of discussion and the locations of future activities; the value and the importance of volunteering seen as an expression of civic involvement and of harmonious development of the society. This work is important for the next step of the project, the development of a training program on volunteering, mainly focused on skills-based volunteering.
The general objective:
The aim of the needs analysis is to identify the target group of direct beneficiaries, their needs, and the cooperation procedures. The structured approach was designed in such a way so as to identify and implement methods of analyzing the needs of the target groups in the partner regions.
- analyzing the context of partner regions in terms of volunteering and active citizenship;
- identifying the volunteers’ training needs in terms of topics of discussion and the locations of future activities;
- raising awareness regarding the value and the importance of volunteering seen as an expression of civic involvement and of harmonious development of the society.
